Though we're no stranger to testing out air purifiers, one particular feature of the Fjord stuck out to us: wheels. The Fjord is consequently much easier to move around the house as needed when compared to most alternatives in the market. You can only go so far as its 5 ft AC adapter cable can allow, but it's incredibly handy nonetheless.
Once in position, users can connect to the unit via the Smartmi Link app on Android or iOS. Keep in mind that the unit is only compatible with 2.4 GHz networks and that you must accept location services in the app or else you will not be able to connect to the Fjord.
The app provides real-time PM2.5 readings, temperature, humidity, and filter life remaining as well as the controls for fan speeds, timers, and the internal UV light. These same features are accessible with the touchscreen on the Fjord itself, but it's inarguably more convenient with the smartphone app.
Speaking of the Fjord touchscreen, the round display is far too small and slow to respond. Scrolling through its various settings feels like using a slow smartwatch with a very low refresh rate. The display on the Proscenic is clearer and larger in comparison, but it doesn't show as much information as the touchscreen on the Fjord.
The manufacturer recommends replacing the filter every 6 to 12 months. The process is very simple as the top of the Fjord comes off to reveal the drum inside. The UV light, however, is not user replaceable and so it is recommended to turn on the light sparingly during seasons of high pollen.
