nanoplus introduces a free space header with integrated collimation for OEM laser applications in gas sensing. The new laser packaging consists of a TO66 header, hermetically sealed with a cap and a collimating lens on top. It is available for any customised wavelength between 1850 nm and 6500nm. The divergence angle of the laser beam is less than 4 mrad!

nanoplus is a global leader for semiconductor lasers used for high-precision gas sensing in industry and research. They are particularly recognised for their Distributed Feedback (DFB) Lasers which enables tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) down to ppb level. The lasers are employed in different applications, such as moisture detection in natural gas pipelines, combustion control, or process-gas analysis. nanoplus offers a wide range of packaging solutions that are tailored to their customers’ needs.

The free space housings are equipped with or without a TEC cooler and NTC thermistor. The very popular TO5 header is a compact housing which comes with a rapidly adjustable thermoelectric cooler and highly sensitive thermistor. The above-mentioned TO66 housing is a little bit larger and thus allows a better heat dissipation for the nanoplus interband cascade lasers (ICL). The most compact housing is the TO56 header, which requires external cooling. To protect the laser from any external damage, such as moisture, oxygen, or dust, it is highly recommended to have the free space header hermetically sealed with an AR-coated cap and window. OEM packages and fibre coupling are available on request.

nanoplus controls the entire production chain from laser design, growth, processing to packaging. This allows them to adapt laser specifications and packages to their customers’ specific requirements. Please contact the nanoplus sales team to discuss your individual needs!

Technical drawings and data of the above packaging options can be found at here online.
